At college, I would listen to whatever song I have. When I was doing internship, my mentor was playing Ingrid Michaelson as we work, and a little A Fine Frenzy (New Heights). During that time I also discovered Never Shout Never. ‘Twas a wonderful, floating sounds – my entry point to Indie records. At my first real job, I would turn the music up from the boss’s playlist: a lot of albums from that day’s hits Maroon 5 - Hands All Over (I like this better than Overexposed), Adele - 21, Taylor Swift – Speak Now (Red is also enjoyable), Taio Cruz - Rockstarr, and some of The Script’s best hits. Then there are some Norah Jones and some really nice vintage I’m still trying to figure out.
When I’m not listening to all of the above combined, I like to tune in to today’s hits by streaming. Mostly they’re pretty pumped up, so I can pick up the pace while working. Often I would work in silence – sometimes music can be a distraction. I discovered Noisli.com from O magazine, and it said that white noise could improve productivity, do you think that’s true? J.K. Rowling did a lot of her writing in a coffee shop – maybe I should try that some time.
